Presbyterian Healthcare Services was founded in New Mexico in 1908, and is the state's only private, not-for-profit health care system and the largest provider of health care. Presbyterian has just been ranked ninth highest integrated healthcare network in the nation out of 568 regional, non-specialty healthcare systems in a study published in the February 2, 2004 issue of Modern Healthcare. Additionally, for the eighth consecutive year, Presbyterian Hospital has been named "Most Preferred for Overall Healthcare Quality and Image" based on independent research conducted by the National Research Corporation.
