Superintendent Radiographer (London, UK)

A Radiographer experienced to Superintendent level is required to join this prestigious organisation and lead a team of highly skilled professionals. Responsibilities:

• To undertake general radiographic procedures and to maintain a high standard of technical skill, efficiency and patient care in accordance with departmental protocols and procedures and IR(ME)R.
• To supervise the radiographic staff and to ensure that standards are maintained in accordance with departmental protocols and national guidelines.
• To assist with the provision of an efficient service and to ensure that patients remain in the department for the minimum possible time, consistent with satisfactory clinical, technical and radiological requirements.
• To liaise with radiologists and referring clinicians to initiate and develop new procedures and techniques.
• To organise the department’s Quality Assurance programme and to investigate and initiate remedial action if necessary for any adverse results or trends.
• To inform patients, carers and other members of staff about X-ray procedures, examination preparation and aftercare.
• To lead the team of radiographers, and to organise the workload by maintaining effective use of all resources.
• To ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times and to promote flexibility in working patterns.
• To maintain effective interdepartmental liaison to achieve optimum levels of patient care and to encourage good working relationships within the multidisciplinary team.
• To ensure that guidelines and policies are adhered to and assist in their review.
• To maintain records of all annual leave, sickness, training and education for radiographic staff reporting directly to you.
• To carry out regular performance appraisals with radiographic staff reporting directly and to support staff in achieving departmental and personal targets.
• To assist the Radiology Manager in the recruitment, selection and induction of new staff.
• To assist the Radiology Manager in the assessment and choice of new equipment.
• To develop and maintain records for the analysis of room utilisation.
• To assist in the annual budget setting process.
• To undertake regular reviews of risk assessments, and to promote a high standard of risk management.
• To supervise the duties of Radiography Protection Supervisor.

• To comply with the Department of Radiology’s Local Rules and Radiation Protection Policies and to instruct other members of staff in safe practices.
• To be familiar with and understand the organisations policies and procedures in relation to COSHH, Fire, Health and Safety at Work regulations and to attend mandatory updates.
• To ensure the radiographic staff are aware of the relevant policies, procedures and their own individual responsibilities and to ensure they attend regular mandatory training.
• To promote safe working practices and the system of risk identification is maintained.
• To ensure that the equipment and accessories are correctly used and maintained and to report any faults to the Radiology Manager.
• To ensure that all equipment is maintained in accordance with maintenance contracts.
• To ensure that all equipment is kept clean and the technical rooms are kept tidy.
• To maintain State Registration and to abide by “The Code of Professional Conduct for Radiographers” as issued by the College of Radiographers.
• To ensure that all radiographers maintain State Registration and abide by “The Code of Professional Conduct for Radiographers” as issued by the College of Radiographers.
• To maintain confidentiality in relation to all information regarding patients in accordance with the organisation’s Data Protection Policies.
• To be proactive in one’s own Continuing Professional Development process, and to maintain awareness of current and new techniques.
• To encourage and support all radiographers in the furtherance of their own Continuing Professional Development; their personal development, general training and education.


Requirements:
• To have evidence of attendance of RPS courses.
• MSc Radiography, or evidence of further degree in radiography or management.
• To have previous experience of managing staff.
• To have previous experience in project management.
• To have previous angiography and/or mammography experience.
• To have experience with PACS,CR,DR
• To have an understanding of the Quality and Clinical Audit process.
