This hospital performs non-invasive cardiology investigations which include ECGs Ambulatory Monitoring of BP and ECG, Pacemaker Checks, Exercise ECG Tests and Echocardiography. Training will be provided if you would like to continue your professional development and broaden your skills. We expect to expand the scope of investigations as the Department grows with demand.
Responsibilities:
To participate in, and have working knowledge of all aspects of all services, including administrational duties. This will include performing tests and providing the reports.
Communicate complex respiratory function results to consultants.
Complete risk assessment forms for all equipment used in the Laboratory.
The post holder will be expected to work independently without direct supervision, under the guidance of the manager.
To carry out all procedures in accordance with the agreed guidelines and policies of the department and hospital.
To maintain expertise in cardiac resuscitation procedures in accordance with agreed and established policies.
To ensure that patients and, where appropriate their relatives or representatives have a clear understanding of procedures to be undertaken.
To maintain accurate written and computerised records of procedures and reports.
To ensure equipment is maintained in good working order, including organising repair and service of equipment.
To communicate and liaise with all staff groups effectively.
Carry out all related procedures: including equipment calibration, sterilisation and quality control.
Ensure that all tests performed, and those done by other health professionals are in accordance with nationally recognised standards.
To assist in the training and professional development of junior staff members.
To participate in the promotion and evaluation of new policies, procedures and services.
To participate in the training of other health professionals in aspects of all services.
To ensure, as far as is reasonably practical, the health, safety and welfare of patients, relatives, carers and staff, reporting any incidents to the manager.
To comply with Health and Safety, Fire and other Hospital regulations.
Requirements:
Must possess a certificate in Physiological Measurement or equivalent, or BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent. ARTP / BTS National Assessment and cardiology qualifications desirable.
ILS/ALS is desirable.
Must be RCCP registered.
The post holder will need to be enthusiastic, flexible, motivated and be a good team player.
Working knowledge of cardiology is essential.
Confident with use of computer.
