BJUSBM/SD 0610233 -- A Speech and Language Therapist with a special interest in working with children is sought for this Community Clinic. This clinic aims to meet the needs of school going children presenting with disabilities through its multidisciplinary school-age intervention service and it community work.
The successful candidate will be expected to be an active, participating, team member working through rotations in the special school setting and also within the community.
Responsibilities:
To manage and deliver an integrated Speech & Language Therapy service, in conjunction with other relevant agencies, to school-age children within the catchment area who present with disabilities.
To participate in trans-disciplinary assessment, diagnosis, intervention planning and service delivery as required.
To work with parents, caregivers, teachers, assistants and other staff throughout all stages of service delivery, ensuring adequate support for the facilitation of others in the implementation of communication programmes.
To work in collaboration, in the delivery of this service, with colleagues on the Speech & Language Therapy team, in particular other Therapists specialising in this clinical area.
To supervise other Speech & Language Therapists/Speech & Language Therapy Assistants assigned to you and to assist in the training of students in the principles and practices of Speech & Language Therapy.
To initiate and contribute to workshops for parents and staff, on topics related to the communication needs of children with special needs.
To attend relevant courses and keep up to date with best practice in the area of communication disorders.
To assist in facilitating Individual Learning Plans, participating in reviews, contributing to the strategies for intervention for the child.
To engage in joint work with other members of the team e.g. parent and staff training, therapy groups and participate in trans-disciplinary programme planning, service delivery and evaluation as required.
To provide professional representation in establishing the highest standards of collaborative practice with colleagues and within Community Clinic.
Day to day management of individual caseload including assessment and intervention.
Liaise closely with the Clinical Team Leader
Requirements:
Each candidate post must possess the B.Sc. Clinical Speech and Language Studies or equivalent.
Ideally have at least 2 years satisfactory post-qualification experience.
Candidates who obtained their qualifications outside the UK must be HPC registered.
Experience working in a community setting is an advantage
