Engineering Manager Maintenance, Process Plant (Concentrator)
Contract Fly-in-fly-out position in the mining sector in a remote and safe area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Single status position (not favourable for wives and families to reside there).
PLEASE NOTE: Regrettably, we are unable to consider candidates who do not have prior mining industry experience (This is a crucial requirement and not negotiable).
KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• Possession of a Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) - Mines and Works either Mechanical or Electrical or equivalent Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Maintenance
• Strong engineering experience in a Process plant with a strong focus to prevent downtime.
• Good leadership skills as well as the ability to teach national staff.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interface with Senior and Lower management across all disciplines and departments.
• Fit and healthy for working in Mining environment.
• Prepared to work 6 days per week 12 hours per day. Be available on Sundays and also available for call outs and breakdowns and prepared to work extended hours when required.
• English Speaking (French will be advantageous).
KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Planning:
o Manpower Planning.
o Prepare yearly working cost budgets.
o Plan to provide services - electricity, compressed air, water etc.
o Identify areas for capital improvement.
o Assist Project Engineer with all approved capital work.
o Schedule maintenance and replacement of all machinery.
o Prepare emergency procedures (e.g. flooding. power outages, amongst other ongoing Risks identified).
o Ensure critical spares are identified to reduce risk to production and ensure these spares are available to ensure continuous operations
• Organising: Structure department to perform the work most effectively; Define subordinates accountabilities; Delegate authority commensurate with accountability to subordinates.
• Leading: Make decisions required to meet production targets; Motivate workforce; Develop and train subordinates.
• Controlling: Must ensure adherence to applicable regulations and company policies and procedures; The Engineer shall carry out specific legal examinations as required.
• Design: Identify opportunities for improved design on all Fixed plant installed
• Commissioning: Bring into running order all and new and overhauled equipment and processes to operate within their designed specifications and procedures.
• Maintenance: To manage the planned maintenance of all machinery and equipment in the specific area of responsibility. Ensure that sufficient spares are available for all major equipment
• Equipment Operation: Ensure that all equipment and machinery operates within the designed and legal requirements.
• Advice and service: To provide mining and other service departments with engineering advice.
REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS:
• Salary up to 165US$K per annum (tax free plus benefits) depending on skills and experience.
• Benefits: Bonus potential of 20%; Travel allowance; Accommodation and meals provided; 84 days annual leave (on a roster base); Medical; Group Benefits Scheme, etc
